Images are formed through a series of mathematical processes which converts sound-information, from SLK’s electronic music, into parameters such as: 3d-coordinates which forms the architecture / structure, color content and lighting – along with various modulations.
Both the audio and the images are generated in homemade computer programs, created in a fascination with incurrent uses of computer data structures.
For example: When sound is used to shape and control 3d-graphics, the data is being perceived by the system as somewhat arbitrary numbers, and thus creating some interesting “errors”, or “glitches” which largely affects the overall expression in a very unique way that are matched with SLK’s music. The music and visuals together creates an overwhelming artistic whole.
The musician and composer Søren Lyngsø Knudsen (also known as “Vectral”) creates digital images from his electronic compositions.
SLK develops most of the software that he uses to produce his music and visuals himself. The software differs from traditional programs for producing and manipulating sound, both in terms of the interfacing and the artistic expression.
In 2009 SLK achieved a Masters degree in Electronic Composition from the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus.
